A wonderful quality late Victorian crescent moon pendant. The crescent is set with well matched natural rubies with an inner band of diamonds. The crescent moon dates back to second millennium BC and is one of the oldest symbols known to man. It became most popular in jewellery in the Georgian and Victorian periods. Crescent moons celebrated the Feminine moon goddess and are associated with female empowerment. They also symbolise change, as it turns into a full moon and then back just like the ebb and flow of life.
